<p>Vir my is dit grondboontjies. Ek sê dit met huiwering, want in gekunstelde kringe beteken hierdie bekentenis tien teen een sosiale selfmoord. &#8216;n Grondboontjiefiksasie is allesbehalwe gesofistikeerd, vroulik of verfynd.</p>
<p>Dit is egter nou eenmaal die geval: ek dood oor <em>peanuts.</em> Van rou grondboontjies tot die pub-variasie wat jou vingers heerlik botterig laat, van katjiebotter tot krakerige grondboontjietameletjie. Ek onthou hoe my pa, wanneer ons in die Pietersburg van my kleintyd by die Astra gaan fliek het, gou oor die straat sou hardloop om ’n bruinpapiersakkie vol <em>peanut clusters</em> by die Griekse kafee te gaan koop. Lekkerder as enigiets wat uit vandag se fênsie lekkergoed-emporiums kom.</p>
<p>Ek kan nie verstaan dat mense met minagting na grondboontjies verwys nie. Hulle bevat meer proteïn as enige neut! Hoekom verdien mense “peanuts” wanneer hulle voel hulle werk min of meer verniet? Ek het my wel daarin verkneukel toe &#8216;n knap vriendin wat &#8216;n blogger met &#8216;n internasionale gehoor is en vir haar skrywes vergoed word, onlangs grap dat sy nou haar <em>peanuts</em> in dollars verdien.</p>
<p>Soos baie kwessies (en mense) wat gering geskat word, neem grondboontjies partykeer wraak. Ek weet nie of dit waar is nie, maar ek het al gelees dat dit vir sekere mense met &#8216;n grondboonallergie fataal kan wees as hulle iemand soen met grondboonspore in sy mond. Mm, dié situasie kan moontlik nuwe lewe in die Romeo en Juliet-intrige blaas.</p>
<p>Die nederige grondboontjie sou &#8216;n paar spreekwyses kon opkikker. Wat van: “Ek het vanoggend my grondboontjies verloor en nou gee ek nie meer ’n grondboontjie om nie. As hy weer met my sukkel, gaan ek sê hy kan in sy grondboontjies gaan verst… gaan grondboontjies eet.”</p>
<p>So ja. Blog afgehandel. En ek weet wat in die koskas vir my wag.</p>

Verhit die grondboontjieolie in ’n braaipan of wok oor hoë hitte. Voeg die noedels by en roerbraai tot die noedels deurwarm is.</li>
<li>Meng die Thai-pesto deeglik deur.</li>
<li>Voeg die koljander- en balsemkruidblare by, haal van die stoof af.</li>
