Antwoord 1: What makes our relationship so special is that we are not only mother and daughter but we are each other's ultimate best friends. We respect each other and understand that we won't always agree, but even in those moments, we know that our bond is bigger than our disagreements. We always want the best for each other and celebrate one another's successes. We know that a bond like ours comes once in a lifetime!

Antwoord 2: One moment that truly stands out in our journey together was the year I applied to complete my Honours degree. I had applied for several bursaries, but as we all know, bursary outcomes take time. I began my Honours year not knowing whether I would be able to afford my studies at all. At one point, completely overwhelmed, I phoned my mom and told her that I thought I needed to give up my studies and start working instead. In that moment of distress, my mom reminded me of my potential, how intelligent I am and how incredibly proud she is of me. She told me she had complete faith that I would receive a bursary, and that if it came down to it, she would do whatever it took to pay my registration fees. Fast forward, I didn’t just receive a bursary, I received THREE. I went on to complete my Honours degree and with distinctions in every module. That achievement was possible because my mom believed in me when I completely doubted myself. This moment perfectly reflects our special bond: unbreakable, unwavering, and built on faith and love.

Antwoord 3: My advice to other mothers and daughters would be to make time for each other in this busy life, listen to one another and always respect each other's opinions. Friends come and go, but in your mother you have a built-in best friend for life. Truly cherish and nurture that connection.
